As an amateur goldpanner and prospector I have travelled to a handful of places all around Europe on the hunt for shiny specks of gold. With gold prices soaring it's a hobby increasing in popularity, and gold can be found almost anywhere in the world. Some gold miners even find nuggets worth thousands of dollars!
When panning for gold, you use a shovel or spade to get material from the creek or surrounding areas to put in a classifier or a goldpan. Regular shovels are often big and flat, letting most of the material run off the shovel and loosing precious gold. The shovel I am designing has a special siding and riffles to prevent any gold-bearing material to slip away.
Gold prospecting often occurs deep in the wilderness unaccessible by car. That is why the shovel also will have a collapsible handle from glass fiber-reinforced polymer, for easy transport and storage.
