The Backstory: I am part of the engineering group that built "The Pill." Ideally, we designed it to be a universal tool and handle the boring parts of IoT: providing a clean enclosure, power management, and a stable ESP32-C3 Wi-Fi stack so you don't have to wire up bare modules. But I'm also a "hacker". I want to go beyond the "standard use cases." I know there is unused potential on this tiny module, and I want to expose it.
The Goal: This project is an experiment in breaking through the "consumer product" layer step-by-step. I’m going to treat this device as a raw module to bridge various boards to the wide variety of home systems.
Hardware: using the raw I/O possibilities, 3D printing custom additions, and potentially voiding warranties.
Software: pushing the scripting engine to its limits to integrate weird peripherals.
Community: Ultimately, my goal is to demystify the add-on interface. I want to see what the community can build once the path to DIY add-ons is open.
