I forked and modified https://github.com/guido57/ft8mon (by Robert Morris, AB1HL) to obtain a C++ program with reduced memory and processing needs.
My aim is to port it to ESP32-S3 to substitute the actually working decode based on ft8lib.
The testing results on linux (see below) are very encouraging as it performs the same (or slightly better) of WSJT-X.
TEST: 6 hours on 20m band
- On the left: ft8lib on ESP32-S3 decoded 569 transmitters received in 6 hours
- On the middle: wsjt-x on Linux (receiving the audio stream from ESP32-S3 decoded 1080 transmitters
- On the right: ft8mon on Linux (receiving the audio stream from ESP32-S3 decoded 1145 transmitters

Benchmark WSJT-X vs PyFT8 vs FT8lib vs FT8mon
using https://github.com/kgoba/ft8_lib/tree/master/test/wav/20m_busy wav test flies
