The WiFi beehive monitor project intends to build on the great open source / DIY beehive monitoring tools that are already on the web. Specifically, the goal is to allow a backyard beekeeper to monitor two hives for weight, temperature, and humidity with the following design constraints:
1) WiFi connection to a home router for remote monitoring
2) Battery powered with a reasonable battery life
3) Use of off the shelf modules to reduce cost and simplify design
4) Soldering required but no SMD
5) Cheap
