FGRFMesh is an open sub-GHz mesh radio platform built around the Analog Devices ADF7023 transceiver and positioned as a more open, developer-friendly alternative to proprietary XBee-style 868 MHz modules. The currently documented platform centers on two hardware targets: an ESP32-based development/debug board with USB, OLED, and Wi-Fi, and a compact STM32-based XBee-form-factor module intended for product integration. Its communication model combines UART/API packet exchange, AT-style configuration, RSSI diagnostics, and mesh routing based on a modified AODV approach rather than requiring every node to talk directly to a central gateway.

This platform is especially aimed at robotics, warehouse automation, telemetry, industrial automation, distributed sensor systems, and embedded products that need predictable local wireless links in environments where conventional Wi-Fi is congested or operationally inconvenient.
