I've done this before: no service manual, no computer, no software: Just a lead box with a bunch of stuff in it, access to the internet, help from friends and strangers, and a broken wrist forcing you to take off time from some of your other hobbies. Time. And determination. That's all you need.
Except, this machine still doesn't work. I mean, everything works a little bit: The detector turns on in a sandbox program, but I can't get past the licensing for it in the parent inspect-x software. The source turns on, too, but steering seems to be kaput or misaligned; emission requires it to be all the way defocused. And I can make the motors move, but I can't control them: the brains seem to be busted, and encoder scaling is wild. Movements just end in Kaklunks.
I just wanted a lead box. The lead box came with a complete scanner inside. If I just got that box, I would have been happy. Now I have a time suck on my hands. Did I mention that this machine is very big, and very heavy?
