This system currently consists of two components: Open RC Spotter and Open RC Crew Chief. Open RC Spotter is a custom PCB (https://oshwlab.com/jakewachlin/open-rc-logger) that is mounted on your RC car, is powered by your BEC, and measures, logs, and transmits critical data such as acceleration, rotation rates, GPS speed and position, temperature of your motor and ESC, battery voltage, and throttle and steering commands. An ESP32 is the primary microcontroller and an open-source, Arduino-based firmware stack for it runs onboard. Pretty much any ESP32 dev board can be configured to be a receiver radio with ESP NOW to connect to Open RC Crew Chief (https://jwachlin.github.io/open-rc-crew-chief/). Crew Chief displays real-time data from your RC car, and can also be used to plot and analyze the logged data from Spotter.
