PTP Real-Time Linux Images for BeaglePlay & BBB

Description

This project showcases real-time Linux images for BeaglePlay and BeagleBone Black SBCs, designed for out-of-the-box use as PTP Grandmaster and Slave devices. It features a custom kernel and a timerfd-based verification script with the following properties:

Integrated with the PREEMPT_RT patch for real-time performance.

Device Trees Configured for interfacing with pps-gpio drivers.

Automatically initializes PTP on startup for both Slave and Grandmaster devices.

Uses an initramfs-based kernel with an EROFS root filesystem for immutability.

Includes instructions to mount each filesystem image—FAT32 (boot), Ext4 (kernel & device tree), and EROFS (rootfs)—along with the kernel configuration files.

Features a statically compiled pps-pulser.c program for oscilloscope verification of post-sync user-space latency.

1 × Openhentek 6022BL For final verification

1 × BeagleBone Black (AM335x) Acting as Slave device

1 × Sparkfun u-block NEO M9N For precise timing signals (pps) input to the grand master

Follow the github link provided in the project links section , github page has extensive implementation guide for customising the final images , along with the guide to simply download and install those images for direct use
