Does this Ethernet port actually work? I built the Pocket Network Tester to make basic network checks quick and portable.

Plug in an Ethernet cable, press the button and read the results on the OLED display. It checks link status, requests an IP address through DHCP, displays IP, gateway and DNS information, and tests basic internet connectivity.

The hardware combines a ESP32, a W5500 Ethernet controller and a custom PCB with USB-C charging, a rechargeable battery and a 3D-printed enclosure.

It is a hands-on DIY electronics project for makers, students and homelab users. It focuses on practical connectivity checks; it does not certify cable wiring or performance.
