Cyberdeck Micro is a small battery-powered terminal built around an ESP32-S3. I wanted to make something similar to an old-school handheld databank, but with modern hardware and enough flexibility for experiments in the field.
It uses a 2.42" 128×64 OLED display, M5Stack CardKB keyboard, microSD card and a 400 mAh Li-Po battery. The enclosure is handmade from plywood and finished in a retro style.
The firmware currently includes a serial terminal, text notes stored on the SD card, Wi-Fi scanner, SD card browser, keyboard test utility, Mandelbrot renderer and a settings menu with display power-saving options.
A 15-pin expansion connector exposes UART, I²C, SPI, a GPIO pin, 3.3 V and 5 V, so the cyberdeck can be expanded with external modules. The first planned additions are a Bluetooth printer, an audio module and some simple games.
The current firmware is version 1.0 and serves as a stable base for future experiments and additional applications.
