### Project Overview
A compact, highly reliable linear voltage regulator module built around the classic TO-220 7805 integrated circuit. This board is specifically designed to provide a rock-solid, low-noise 5V DC power rail for microcontrollers, sensors, and prototyping breadboards.
The project is fully completed and routed on a compact 2-layer PCB using Altium Designer.
### Technical Specifications
* **Regulator IC:** Classic 7805 (TO-220 Package)
* **Output Voltage:** Stable +5V DC
* **Input Protection:** Reverse polarity protection diode included.
* **Thermal Management:** Optimized copper pour area beneath the TO-220 package acting as a PCB heatsink, with mounting holes for an optional external aluminum heatsink.
* **Filtering Network:** Dual-stage decoupling caps (bulk electrolytic + high-frequency ceramic caps) on both input and output stages for maximum ripple rejection.
### PCB Layout Features
* **Layer Count:** 2 Layers (Top / Bottom Signal layers).
* **Power Distribution:** Wide, low-impedance copper traces for high-current power paths to minimize voltage drops and heating.
* **Grounding:** Solid copper ground pour covering all unused PCB areas to shield the analog circuit from external noise.
* **Assembly Friendly:** Optimized for easy manual hand-soldering and rapid hardware prototyping.
