Two lights can look similarly bright while having quite different spectral content. The AS7341 breakout provides more detail than a single brightness reading by separating incoming light into multiple channels.
Eight channels cover overlapping visible bands, alongside near-infrared and clear channels. Flicker detection adds another way to compare light sources. The host reads the sensor over I²C using the linked library.
This makes a useful starting point for exploring how lamps, filters or materials change the light reaching the sensor. Interpreting those readings is part of the experiment; the board alone does not turn them into a calibrated laboratory spectrum.
