Sometimes the connector is the obstacle: a device already has a Micro-USB socket, but the project needs its own wiring rather than a ready-made cable. This male breakout plugs into that socket and exposes the connections as pads.

VCC, GND, D+ and D− are accessible on a compact layout with 2.54mm castellated spacing. That allows a custom PCB or wired prototype to reach both power and USB data connections.

The breakout does not create a USB host or regulate a power source by itself. Those functions must come from the connected circuit, with suitable voltage, polarity and USB signaling for the device being attached.
