The HPDL1414 brings four red, sixteen-segment characters and a distinctive retro appearance to a small display. This breakout adds an ATmega328P to simplify the wiring normally needed to control that display.
Instead of driving its parallel interface from the host, send text from a UART TX pin to the board's RX at 9600 baud. The onboard controller handles the display, and the board includes a 3.3V regulator. It provides a compact way to show short text or numeric readouts.
