Until recently all my BOMs lived in Excel. That was fine for single boards, but not once my projects grew to several. My current one is a modular locker system: one master board plus several column boards over CAN. I spent more time checking spreadsheets than designing.
The tools I found were either built into expensive EDA suites like Altium, or inventory software that doesn’t know about boards. So I built my own.
How it works:
1. A project contains boards, each with its own BOM and revision.
2. Parts live once in a shared library, so every board points to the same component.
3. The project combines all boards into one BOM: quantity per board × boards per build × builds, plus attrition, minus stock, priced with real price breaks and MOQs.
It searches LCSC with no setup, DigiKey and TME with your own API keys, showing live prices and stock.
4. It imports KiCad, JLCPCB or CSV/Excel BOMs, flags duplicate designators, and exports per-board CSVs, JLCPCB BOMs or a purchasing
