This is a development board based on the Intel 8048 microcontroller. The 8048 and the associated MCS-48 family was Intel's first microcontroller released in 1976. It is an 8-bit chip with external data bus and 27 built-in GPIO pins with clock speeds up to 11 Mhz. While the 8048 contains a mask ROM it program, all of the MCS-48 familty supported bypassing the internal ROM and executing out of external EPROM which is used in this development board. Expansion is implemented through a 40pin RCBUS port. With the addition of addressable LED ASCII display and an enclosure the 8048 is transformed into a conference badge to truly look the part at VCFSW.
