How Electronic Tombola Works
Electronic Tombola is an interactive electronic version of the traditional Italian Tombola game, similar to Bingo but played with 90 numbers.
Designed and developed by BASIL27, the project combines custom electronics, embedded firmware, RGB LEDs, sound effects and 3D-printed mechanical parts.
Hardware
The system is based on an ESP32-C3 microcontroller and includes:
- 90 WS2812B RGB LEDs to indicate drawn numbers
- An 8×32 WS2812B LED matrix to display the current number
- A DFPlayer Mini module for audio announcements
- A single push button for game control
- Custom-designed PCBs and 3D-printed components
Game Operation
When a new number is drawn, the corresponding LED on the board lights up and the number appears on the LED matrix.
The audio module announces the number, creating an interactive experience.
The latest drawn number is highlighted in a different color.
The system also saves game progress, allowing the game to resume after an unexpected power interruption.
Development
The project includes PCB design, firmware development, LED control, audio integration and mechanical prototyping.
Electronic Tombola was presented at Maker Faire Rome 2026.
