pins pushed through and plastic sanded to conform to the remaining space next to the battery holder (you might need to melt the solder and push it inwards as hard as you can without hurting yourself), then soldered from the top.

Not the best way to do it but this way you still have solder access to the pin header on the top (for possible mods)
