If you miss ARM microcontroller, which will fit to standard breadboard then you are on right place. Since the new microcontrollers (especially 32bit ARM) are not in DIL (or very rarely), but they are only in very small packages then it can be a problem to make prototypes without creating PCB.
These small - very small dev kit boards carry microcontrollers from ST and one from NXP with core ARM Cortex M0(+)
- STM32F042G6 (with USB)
- STM32F031G6
- STM32L031G6
- MKL02Z32CAF4R
These micros are programable with any SWD debugger or using internal bootloader via UART, SPI, I2C or USB.
