In october 2016 me and a couple friends at work stumbled upon a Cambridge Instruments Stereoscan 260 SEM at an auction site. Starting bid 1 swedish krona. Since not bidding would be a serious crime against the quest for knowledge we decided to put some money in a pot and start bidding. 45 minutes later and 2750 SKr less in our pot we were the proud and giggly owners of a SEM. Now the SEM is in my shop at home and awaiting repairs and maintenance. I will try to document that process here :)
One step forward and three steps back. It seems both pumps need an overhaul. I think that I can fix the roughing pump but the turbo is a different story. I think I need to send it away to be serviced. Is Satan still in the soulbuying business?
