The goal is to get the BOM down to some reasonable price.

Some PCB should be on the way to me soon:
    https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/Neopixel_to_wemos_adapter.html

Meanwile I look around for some cheaper Neopixel matrices. The less expensive the BOM, the less expensive the workshop, the more kids can build their own cool blinky stuff.

For the first proof of concept I took a 8x8 Neopixel matrix I had in one of my boxes.

As a housing / faceplate I used the one from https://learn.adafruit.com/neomatrix-8x8-word-clock/overview.
