That's a good one--I've seen old fellers do that with jam jars. Unfortunately my basement ceilings are around 5' 10"... I'm always stooping as it is.

You might be able to adapt my "spice rack" style component storage for those huge jars - Looks like you're on the same track as me :)

i use them for nails, screws, staples, ect. what i like to do is screw the tops to the celing, then they can screw on and off and be out of the way when you dont need them
