Same construction techniques as the glow-bugs prior. The long protrusion took a couple tries to fabricate, so it's right on the edge of doable. Thanks to Oshpark for working with me on a weird object!
These are through panel mounted LEDs that have been mounted upside-down and raised up off the board with a space made by clipping 100mil header pins. I'll take some better photos when I remember to bring my lighting rig to work...
This was the most successful footprint that I tried. It has solder mask relief on the component side and the reverse, with the LED mounted upside down. Forgive me the Crusty soldering job. The LEDs have a substantial gap in this configuration that may necessitate some form of non-melting filler or clip to span the gap without the enormous solder globs.
I added a small layer of nail polish to make the LED less blinding to highlight diffuse light. I think that the same effect would be both easier and better if I just mount the LED upside down pressed in contact with the board.
Prototype of my "business chit". I wanted to make a business card-type thing that was fun and memorable. I mocked up a quick logo design. I like the overall shape and the gold contrast. I have concerns that these are too small to be easily kept in a pocket, and hard to read for those without good vision. The logo may be to obtuse for non-technical audiences, and may also get rework. Or I'll just give up and put these in the bin. Who's to say?
These are .26" circles. They are rather small to be used for buttons on a button down shirt, but could be for shirt collars or other very small buttons.
Hah! Nice :)
