I got the AMS002 modules from mouser today. Managed to design, etch, and solder a breakout board for it between work and catching a red eye to New York.
I broke out the pins by functional group rather than just a bunch of long headers by position. I managed to power it on to see if I could connect to it and enumerate the services. It worked perfectly. Should have it tested and talking between the PIC and the Android app in a few days.
