This is a bed I'm making for my son. Currently most pieces are cut out, painted and assembled. I still need to assemble the cockpit and gradually get it in working order. It'll use a Beaglebone Black with LCD cape, lots of buttons, lots of LEDs, a ~30" TV, some 3D printed parts, some custom PCB boards, a few microcontrollers, and a lot of time to hopefully resemble a working spaceship.
I have put together a working simulator with a little gem I found called Space Nerds In Space.
I had to make a fork since it has progressed beyond the point of running smoothly on an embedded device. Plus I plan on adding more keyboard and joystick controls.
Original goal was back in August, new goal is by Christmas. Hopefully a lot more to come.
Well, it's starting to come together. It at least resembles a spaceship now. Between the design, cutting, sanding, sanding, more sanding, painting, assembling, and wiring I figure I'm about 2/3 of the way there. I still need to put the cockpit together, all the electronics, and some darker paint in some areas for contrast.
Sweet! Looks straight out of the USCSS Nostromo
