Hey can you clarify which is the miniature view? I understand the status icon part.
I could swear I have posted an answer some days ago, but then again, the " miniature" is the cover photo, that is somewhat cropped around the edges (hence smaller than original)
hi,I can not find "views" in the page of my Project ,Only "comment","follower""likes" exist,I am not sure why.Could you give me some hint abouti it ?
https://hackaday.io/project/167094-199usd-3d-scanner-holographic-3d-creater-yscanner
It will be there soon. View count isn't displayed until the project is a few hours/days old and/or has a certain amount of views!
In the past the project page could be sorted by time period (week, month..alltime) combined with current filtering methods like most viewed ect.
Why dispose of such a feature?
As far as I know, only the likes sort has had this function, https://hackaday.io/projects?sort=skulls&range=month
I do see the value of having it for others, for example most views/comments/followers.
Heya, I'm wondering if browser based locale would ever be used in the future, or options added to the user setting to configure? The time stamps on projects keep throwing me off because of the MM/DD format (where as I'm used to DD/MM).
It would be good if a publish of an edit of the project page or details could prompt for a short summary of the reason for the change to be entered, which could then be displayed on the feed. For example I just added a link to a software repository. But all people see on the feed page is that I updated the project and no indication why, unless they know what it was like before. It's the same for me. I see that people have updated a project page, but I don't know why. Maybe it was as simple as fixing a typo.
If no summary is entered, then the notification to the feed should be suppressed. If the author doesn't provide a message, then it's not a noteworthy change.
I think this is important. If people are flooded with too much information they will just turn off. This way they can judge quickly whether the change was important enough to read further.
Hmmm I like this thought. SO next to the "show update in feed" setting there could be an optional update notification message.
Hi there! Not sure if this function is available already.. is it possible to:
1. Change ownership of a project to another user
or
2. Allow team members to have access to edit the Description, Title, Banner photo, etc.
Thanks!
If you PM me I can help transfer ownership of an existing project if recreating it is not an option.
Hello,
Can we submit more than one project in the Beutiful Hardware contest?
Thank you
Greeting Hackaday.io crew! can we get public messaging as an option for Lists?
Hello @Dave's Dev Lab! We already have "Team messaging" button on the right top of the list page ; )
Yes, but it only covers the "Team", it's not available for the public like a project has the option for....
Dusan is right there is a team messaging, but I think I know where you are going with this. A list is centered around a topic or niche and public messaging goes well with that. If someone wanted to create a public chat does it make sense under projects or lists, I guess why not both?
When someone updates a project page it would be great to be able to see a diff of the current page compared with previous versions so it's easier to see what was updated.
This is especially important for the project owner himself, as it's always a hassle to make a new paragraph called "updated" or something. Even changes in existing texts is not easy to spot for people interested in your projects...
Change E-Mail if you are logged in via GitHub seems not possible:
if you go to https://hackaday.io/settings?tab=email
you have to enter a pw above the new email field..
but if you have logged in with github you have no password...?!
i would like to update my email address - so that notification mails go into the correct mail-box...
sunny greetings stefan
Hi you can set a password here, https://hackaday.io/forgotpass
If you need more help just private message me :)
The Profile page has very little content above the fold. I'm afraid that users will bounce instead of seeing my projects.
I'd like the Profile page to show off me and what I do. I'd like it to be a landing page that I can link online. But on mobile the immediate content on screen isn't very relevant. The projects and pages are several swipes down the screen,
Compare this to other websites like Github, Twitter, Disqus, etc. The bio is a tiny summary and the user's content is immediately visible on screen. No scrolling or clicking.
Here are screenshots comparing them:
The desktop UI is pretty nice but the mobile/tablet UI needs crunching. Don't just stack the same elements but reshape and remove if necessary.
Hey thanks for the feedback, you're right the mobile layout could be better optimized. I'll see if we squeeze it in the next release.
I have several issues with the WYSIWYG editor for project logs, but I've condensed them since it looks like they've been mentioned before.
-The difference between a P tag and BR tag is invisible in WYSIWYG mode. I frequently encounter issues writing lists (usually when I'm going back to edit) because the editor decided to change between P and BR, which makes the spacing way off. I can't resolve these P/BR issues in WYSIWYG mode, I have to use HTML mode.
-Every other time I enter HTML mode the line breaks are duplicated!
I can accept minor bugs if they're easy to workaround. In my opinion the WYSIWYG should be side-by-side with the HTML code so I can see/fix issues.
Consider removing the P tag from WYSIWYG-generated HTML entirely. Progress logs can deal with just BRs.
Somebody else mentioned Markdown. That would be cool and might avoid these line break issues.
Also real issue tracker for this site would be nice.
Is there any particular reason why I am unable to embed a Hackaday page within another website? ex: https://www.wallfacerdesign.com/project-1
Embedding is blocked for security reasons, but there is a public read only API.
It returns JSON details of your project if you GET http://api.hackaday.io/v1/projects/165703?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY
Hi team,
i am a security researcher and i found some bug and wanted to report to you as i also send these to your mail projects-contact@hackaday.com i hope your team look into these and fix them soon further you can ask for details or what ever information you need.Just because of risk of disclosure i didn't post these here so check mail and get back to me.
If changes just rolled out to the email notifications, mentions within the email are relative, and therefore are broken. There is also the recurring '3D' thing I don't get... Just got this:
<div style=3D"font: 20px helvetica neue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif; lin=
e-height: 25px;"><a style=3D"color: #F6F6F6;" href=3D"https://hackaday.io/h=
acker/23839">Craig Hissett</a> wrote a bit on your profile<div style=3D"wid=
th: 600px; font-style: italic; font-size: 17px; margin: 50px auto 0 auto;">=
<span style=3D"color: #666; font-style: italic; font-size: 25px;">"</span>T=
hanks for following my <a data-mention-project-id=3D"165614" href=3D"/proje=
ct/165614">#DIY SamplePad Controller </a>project buddy.<span style=3D"=
color: #666; font-style: italic; font-size: 25px;">"</span></div>
=3D is the quoted printable encoding for the = character. Also a line ending with = means join up with next line. Somewhere in the site software the string got over-encoded. Or perhaps the email content wasn't labelled as QP-encoded.
It would be useful to filter the comments/question of the "stack" by user. Time ago I wrote wrote something on the "stack" and now I do not know how to find it.
You could also search for a user, and then filter by Stack entries here https://hackaday.io/search?term=Est&category=page%20stack
Hi! In HackChat, we tried to link a video using a youtu.be link - linking it like https://youtu.be/EXLJJpKe35w failed (grey rectangle with "YouTube" text on top), but linking it like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXLJJpKe35w successfully embedded a video. So, the chat kinda recognizes youtu.be as something embeddable, but seems to fail to fetch info about it (uploader's name that's usually shown on top when embedded) and actually embed the video.
Hi. There is a project of mine which was removed silently. It's just disappeared without any previous claim or notice. Its link was: https://hackaday.io/project/165726-xling.
What should I do in this case?
It may have been temporarily flagged as spam and looks resolved.

After 10 minute create project Files button and function appeared ...
My other question is
Component can be leveled or can be add to each logs (??logs mean project steps ??)
Best regards.
Hi! There's a separate area for components that you can use. Project logs can denote steps, but usually people use them to show their progress over time (adding logs as the project progresses) or tell about different areas of their project. You can upload pictures to project logs, or, if you don't want to write logs, just add stuff in the project "Details" section.
Hello, I'm trying to add multiple newlines when editing my project details, but it seems like the editor ignores it and does not apply any newlines to the format after publishing. I usually add newlines to clearly separate one section to the next. While putting section titles and formatting it as heading 1 or 2 works great for proper documentation, newlines would help the readers more especially if they are interested only to certain parts of the project details. Thanks.

Feature request: Add a clearly visible mark over the "miniature view" of the project to show its complete/ongoing status, for instance a yellow/green dot.
