Also, if it's feasible, I'd like a button to go straight to the least recent unread story. You wouldn't have to keep track of each story's read/unread status, just which one is the most recent one that's read, and then highlight everything newer than that.
Another issue I have with the feed (since the old version) is that to make sure I don't miss anything, instead of just clicking on the "prev" button to go to the previous page, I must open it in a new tab, refresh the current page, look for anything new at the top of the page, then close the tab and move on to the previous page. If I just clicked "prev" then I'd miss anything that was on the previous page when I loaded the current one but has since been pushed down to the current one. I have no idea how to solve this, but I will say I'd like infinite scrolling much less than the current situation. I could start on page 1 and click "next", but I like reading things in the order of posting.
