Your list of followed and liked projects? https://hackaday.io/projects/hacker/324828/likesandfollows
Project log pages keep freezing when I try to edit them. I use Vivaldi browser. Is it a known issue? Would you like more detail?
Win 7 pro 64. It's ok until I enter a cursor and try input anything. just freezes.
@Ivan Lazarevic already looked into this. Seems to be the third party editor of hackaday.io which doesn't work with vivaldi. It won't be fixed. I just use FF for hackaday now...
Just tried it with the recent version of Vivaldi 2.5.1525.48 (Stable channel) and it works now. Don't know if it was a fix in Vivaldi or here on Had.io. I don't care. It works :)
The notification feed is a mess. I see comments on random projects from people that I follow. But most of the comments on my own projects are not displayed. This is not acceptable.
I would gladly follow more people but that would completely flood the feed.
Is there any way to fix that?
Email notifications don't work as well because the account is connected to Github.
Thanks Max, we also have a request for a notifications area (your likes/comments/etc) separate from the feed.
Hi! In my private feed, I would like to see updates to the projects I'm following. Currently though, this feed is flooded with random people liking, commenting or following these projects. It would be nice if there was a way to filter this noise out. That would also make it a lot easier to find new projects to follow!
One more thing, Hackaday black color background and white text contrast hurts my eyes! If I can afford a lawyer, you may get sue. Can you guy liberate us to change color scheme? At least allow green text in black background. It just hurts. I don't want to read my stuffs even I wrote it.

Can you add option to write log in markdown? It is pain to switch between HTML and text to do simple format thing like heading and etc.
I have noticed an issue with email notifications. The configuration page allows you to select all of the events which cause an email to be sent, but not all events work as expected. A few days ago I received an email notifying me that someone had like a project of mine. Right after they liked the project they left a comment on the project that I didn't notice until a few days later because I was never notified. I noticed the disclaimer "MAXIMUM ONE EMAIL PER HOUR" at the bottom of the settings page. It seems that I was never sent a notification of the comment because an email was sent to notify that a project was liked just moments before.
I understand the need to limit emails to one per hour, but this causes information to be lost if a lot of activity happens at once on your profile. Would it be possible to get a "Notifications" feature at the top of the page? Something like the "Feed" but a stream of likes, comments, and follows. An email of initial activity would be enough to get someone to check the site for more detailed information (allowing the email throttling to remain in place, but providing more granular information for those of us that miss things often).
I believe that all of them are in your feed, with all other feed activities, and it might not be easy to see them. I'll add your request into our backlog. thank you.

we'll look into this. and we'll try to go with a higher number in the fix : )
this is fixed now. unfortunately, the lower number is the correct one : )
Replace GitHub links with a company that isn't evil, thanks!!!
we should get rid of all centralized websites, like hackaday and github - they are all evil, we should go back and host evrything our selfsnow that we found out github wanted to make money, and now has a owner that makes it possible to runt he service for almost forever.
Can you add GitLab to the "add network" dropdown on the project creation page?
Probably, there is always the other category too, the only difference is no custom icon.
Alternatively, they could remove all suggested sites entirely to avoid any sense of favoritism. But I'd guess that they get paid by GitHub and Dropbox, making that unlikely!
Are you implying that hackaday is under the control of Microsoft now?
I wonder if it would be possible to add a third category to the public/private projects: unlisted. Such projects could be seen by people when linked to or mentioned directly, but wouldn't appear in the listings.
it's an interesting idea. we'll add it to our backlog.
In the pages editor, when I delete the last character of a line of text underneath a picture, why does it delete the bloody picture along with it, "delete the whole paragraph"-style?
Why does it sometimes insert code snippets at the top of the text instead of the cursor position? Why does it randomly jump around when deleting things. Why is the line spacing sometimes messed up and lines are skipped when using the up and down arrow keys.
Super frustrating :(
+1
The whole editor is mostly frustration, regardless of the browser you use...
On top of that it seems that when editing longer pages some pictures can "get dropped". Had to edit
https://hackaday.io/page/5252-generating-nice-threads-in-openscad
multiple times now to get everything back in order. Seriously, if we're here to build your hackaday.io dream and generate free content to establish and maintain your position in the community, this has to change.
Using Firefox 60.0.1 (64-Bit) under Win7 Pro
Code snippets mangle the pasted code. It seems they don't like angle brackets.
I just created a new project today named ColorChord and all was looking good until I just checked and notice that it has been removed ? This was going to be a contest entry and was/is for the visually impaired.
Might have solved it. There is another ColorChord from two years ago. Does something different but the same device name... Guess I need to choose another name for my project ;-)
Hello @Dr. Cockroach - Your project is accidentally deleted by a script implemented as spam protection. Project has been restored now. Sorry about that!
Maybe it's just me or I'm missing something but here's what I'd wish for to make project logs better:
* side notes
* proper handling of citations (table with links, maybe preview functionality)
Check out this log to see what I'm having trouble with: https://hackaday.io/project/156522-step-and-scan-digital-microlithography/log/146551-laser-assisted-chemical-etching
You could use a "List" for your citations. Table formatting are messy.
The "Ordered List" comes with a number for each entry, so you could use that number as your reference just like in a published paper.
Or just do something like this:
References:

4. https://github.com/dcwbrown/dwire-debug
You can do subscripts or superscripts by fooling around with html tags and : https://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/
If the citation is inline style, you could possibly use links (Chain icon).
I'm new to this site, is there an option to change the color theme/skin of the site? I'm finding it hard to read with the current dark color theme. I'd like to view it in more lighter colors, for example the colors in the Twitter feed.
Is there a way to transfer ownership of a project to another team member ?
Is there a section for people to request a project blog post? For example, if someone is not sure what project they should work on next, they could check a list of requests from Hackaday visitors for things the visitors would like to see on the site. Maybe the visitors could collectively donate an amount to come up with custom challenges in parallel with the Hackaday challenges.
I’ve never heard of that. After looking up the term, I would say yes. I’ll look into it more. Thanks!

Edit: I didn’t find any project bounties directed to makers, but maybe you, or someone else, knows a keyword or website for that kind of thing. I’m thinking it would be cool for site visitors to request fun or educational projects they would like someone to work on. The idea is that someone would post an request for a project (likely to cost under $1000 to produce) and either ask for a bounty or not, and other visitors can further support a project request with more funding or upvotes.
there are a few wish lists that you can use for inspiration. eg
I have one project - #3niti alpha
https://hackaday.io/project/19989-3niti-alpha
It has 345 followers, but only 141 views - how it's even possible?...
probably through the auto-follow onboarding process where people get ask what they like and then click on certain projects to follow, without actually looking at it in detail, because they're still trying to get through the onboarding process.
I follow some projects directly from the feed. That probably doesn't generate a view.
interesting thing is that it's the only project from my other 15 that shows such thing - may be people like big digit 3 in orange circle and follow digits without looking? ;)
