System seems to be sporadically sending out a few old notifications. I've seen a few and others have (apparently) been responding up old comments or PMs. An example might be the most recent comment in this discussion: https://hackaday.io/project/166507#discussion-list
I sometimes would like a way to 'like' log entries - to show appreciation for increments of ongoing work on a project that I've already skulled - and maybe commented on once or a few times but don't want to get too stalky about commenting on every update.
I enjoy the experience. But enabling a retraceable revision history for files, as well as enabling preview of more file formats, would let me use my project repository more actively. Somewhat like grabcad
Feature request: It would be nice to have a project status icon for each project alongside the Views, Follows and Likes on the My Projects page, so that one can see at a glance for example which have been completed (feel good), which are in progress (motivation), and which have been scrapped (lessons learnt).
That's a good one, I think status and things like date created/ last updated are almost as important as views/ follows counts.
Think this is an amazing site! But unfortunately my project (The Moncky project) doesn't show on the recent projects list (even though I configured it as public). Does anybody know what I have to do to make it appear? Thanks!
Hey @bigbat thanks for sharing your projects, very newly created account's projects don't immediately display in the recents list. (I do see all of them listed now). Because your account has been around for a bit now, newly created projects will show up immediately in any public feeds.
OK, thanks for the reply! The projects do show now. All is ok :-) Maybe this information could be added somewhere so new users can see that. Or did I completely overlook it?
The hr tag no longer works.
I added a page (link below) containing *two* horizontal rules, neither of which show up in PaleMoon (a clone of Firefox) or Chrome.

hey guys can you help me for something.my google acc get stolen by someone and he changed everything 🙂
You should contact Google to regain access to your account.
The og:url meta tag on project logs contains the wrong URL (starts with /project/project/1234 instead of just /project/1234)
Is there any way to generate/display a list of "log" titles for a project? I know I can roll my own, and manually edit it every time I add a log, but Seriously, this seems like a no-brainer feature that would make navigating a long project more manageable.
Yes please. I'm burning an evening right now rolling my own because this.
An option to collapse all the Pages of a user to titles only, just like for Logs, would be good. In fact I'm not sure how to see all the Pages I created, even in long form. The last (oldest or newest) seems to be truncated and I wonder if it will drop off the webpage if I add another Page.
Broken links in your newsletter to the next Hack Chat event... And can't find the info on your site. Can you publish more info please? Thanks.
The link has been fixed. Thanks for letting us know!
The notifications pop-up and the associated mail generator were erratic today, they showed a couple of follows from months ago, which didn't show in global feed (correct, since they are old news).
Does the time shown in notifications also reflect an old date, or did it display a recent time?
Ok thanks, mail seems to be on schedule atm but I will watch for anything out of the ordinary.
I should have mentioned that I saw those follows the first time and even commented on one, so the notification gizmo seems to have gone on a time trip. Maybe bored in lockdown. 😉
An option to display logs in chronological order would be nice. While a project is in progress, it's fine to show the latest log first, but when a project is complete, or when coming in the middle of the story, an option to read logs in historical order is useful.
"View all {n} project logs" -> "sort by" -> "oldest"
It's there but could be less obscure.
You're right. I would add that the default sort order could be made an author choice which can be modified when the project is complete.
Another improvement could be to put another link to View all project logs at the top of the section instead of requiring the reader to scroll to the end of the logs to reach that button.
(new "reply" because limited reply depth)
ky> "Another improvement could be [...]"
Yes.
To amplify: I wrote a gripe/request comment on "Everything 101" about making "view all logs" better, to which @Richard Hogben replied "Pretty reasonable, I'll look into what we can do."

Commenting to link this here & that there.
Having a single HTML page for details or logs seems to be badly suited to those hackers who like to amend their stories often. After a while one gets weary of figuring out what was added to or what changed in the story and stops following. Could HaD provide a smart editor which would allow hackers to highlight the changed portions so one can just cut to the chase?
Is there a way to change password if you've forgotten it. I am logging in using github, but years ago I registered with a @yahoo account. I deleted the @yahoo mail and forgot the password. Now I recreated my yahoo account (again, just for this!), but to change my password it still wants me to enter my previous password. And to change my email to my present email it also wants my old password. So there's just no way to say "forget password, send a reset link", and, hence - no way to change my email.
Hello,
A while ago, Hackaday announced launching a journal for hackers and makers. Since I have not heard anything about that in a while, I assume that that project did not end up taking off. As an academic type, I think that is a shame. But have you considered providing DOIs (https://www.doi.org/index.html) for projects on Hackaday.io? I think it would immediately make them more citable, and provide a little extra motivation for people to put their projects on there.
I do not know how much effort such a thing actually would be, but I thought it would not hurt to share this idea with you.
Cheers
I'm trying to switch from authenticated on HaD.io with my github account to using a plain old email address and password. When trying to change email or password, HaD.io complains the password is incorrect. What am I doing wrong?
Loosely related to @J.B. Langston's point. When displaying the pages on a persons profile could we have that it collapses the article to Title + first paragraph. Currently it displays the whole article and it makes it really frustrating to scroll trough someone's posts.
The User Pages section on hackaday.io could use some SEO. I host a few projects on hackaday.io already, so when Medium started monetizing articles in annoying ways, I moved all my electronics blog articles to user pages on hackaday.io. After that, my posts seem to have fallen into a black hole. Even searching for phrases I know to be in the articles turns up nothing on Google. My pages are at: https://hackaday.io/pages/137872
Edit: After trying different searches it seems the problem is a little more nuanced. What actually turns up in the search is the link above with the title "J.B. Langston's pages | Hackaday.io". This goes to the top of all of my published pages, not to a specific article. If searchers scroll down long enough they might find the article eventually, but it would be much better if a Google search returned the direct link to the article with the proper title in the search results. I guess I could create projects for these but some of the articles don't really merit a project of their own.
