[bug: feed]

I just refreshed page 5 of my feed right after opening page 4 in a new tab, and page 5 lost four stories from the bottom; only the more recent four remained. They were replaced with this message:

"(!) Not much to see here yet. Follow some interesting Hackers and Projects to make your feed more lively. You can also check out the Global Feed to check out what's happening in the rest of Hackaday Projects universe."

I refreshed again and it was still there, and the four less recent stories were still missing. Page 5 still has its "Next" and "Prev" buttons. Pages 4 and 6 are unaffected.

Chrome 36 on Mac OS X Mavericks.

The same thing happened when I got to page 2, though this time, it occurred on the first page load and then persisted through a refresh. I refreshed it to find that the fourth story had disappeared; I then went back to page 3 (which I still had open in another tab) and refreshed to find a different story had appeared at the top of that page. Therefore, it appears that the notice is 'covering up' some stories.

Tag normalization - while pulling statistics for HaD Prize, I noticed that the tags have lots of variation based on how people type them in. Easy fixes would be to uppercase all tags, remove leading #, remove double space (or all spaces). What I'd really like to see is a context menu that pops up as you type, suggesting the most popular tags that match what you're typing, so users can try to match what's already been entered.

YouTube has suggestions for tags, as I discovered when I uploaded my THP videos. It's really slow to load for me—it needs to be instant or people will move on to the next tag and never see the suggestions—and the tags it suggests can be weird.

Just an idea - it may be interesting to have option to see similar projects to project currently viewed, somewhere on bottom of project page. The selection can be made automatically, by searching for tags or other keywords.

Also, for the "Projects" view, a default sort by the newest once would be better (again, this is a personal opinion) than too always see the the same projects that are most skulled ones.

More thoughts:

- the default "Feed" button sends users to "My Feed" instead of "Global Feed". This can lead users to "leave in their own bubble" of projects/users they follow, without making them aware of the global hackaday.io activity.

- it would be much nicer (at least for people like me) to see the whole project and all the sections of the project in one long page instead of having a "View all..." button. "Read more" button is great for the blog, but once that someone click on a project/article, it usaualy means that (s)he want to see it all.

Didn't use to many web editors, but this is by far the most frustrating one for me.

It doesn't work well with Opera and IE, sometimes pictures are inserted in the wrong place (usually at the beginning), formatting text (for "code") is randomly applied to the section above, after, or the the whole post instead of the selected text only, "code" formatting for source codes that has empty lines is separated into multiple code formatting for each paragraph as in here http://hackaday.io/project/1293/instructions (step #5), and so on.

Works a little better with Mozilla, but still very annoying.

Agreed. Would like WYSIWYG editor everywhere, and with the toolbar always shown at the top. I didn't even know you could edit formatting until I highlighted something for delete and the context menu popped up. Don't hide core features! : )

Attempted to change password, as the one I had originally chosen was lost. I requested a new password, copied & pasted it from the email into the 'current password' blank on the Change Password form. It came back as invalid....

The feed's "Next" button is missing on feed pages 7 and greater, but only on my personal feed; the global feed doesn't have this problem. I looked at the source code and there's no sign of it.

[bug: project deletion]

It appears that when a project is deleted, its log entries (and presumably details too) are still accessible if you have the URL, and all of the project's stories still appear in the feed. Example: https://hackaday.io/project/2726/log/8352

I submitted my project https://hackaday.io/project/2693-Cloud-CarBot few hours ago for hackaday prize. I can see my project in project lists with "thehackadayprize" tag.

However, I could not add URL to my youtube video because I did not see any link to add it. Therefore I have embedded the youtube video URL in details section of the project.

I hope that is ok.

when you edit you project here https://hackaday.io/project/2693/edit , under the tags you should see an external link area where you can add the video link. you should also consider splitting your details into 4 logs to meet the rules. Good luck

That's exactly my question, Mike: why not every one of the 300 projects can be send into a list? I mean, you guys are free to use creativity and create new lists, right? .
The whole point in that those projects are gaining more visibility than all the others into the prize!

I noticed the same. Two skulls and followers for my project http://hackaday.io/project/2475-Progmeter one or two days ago and no feed/e-mail notification. However, then I received another one and got info in feed and e-mail.
Unofrtunately, I can't click on skull/follower icon uder project to see who gave the skulls or follows my project.

[bug: components]

I'm trying to change the order of components for my project, but the drag handle only appears (and flickers) for the first item I added. If I move it down to another position, it's still the only one with a drag handle. The four-way arrow cursor appears for all components, but dragging on them just selects text. Looking in the inspector, I see that only the row of the first component I added (i.e. the only row that was on the page when it loaded) gets the hover-row class, and only its td.component-handle gets the icon-draggable class, when I hover over the row. I haven't published the components yet; maybe if I do and then go in to edit them they'll all work. Will try that now.

Chrome 36 on Windows 7.

Yes, they all get drag handles (though the handles still flicker terribly) after saving the components and going back in to edit them. New components I add (beyond the one blank row that already appears at the bottom), though, don't have handles.
