A knife sharpening machine with a sandpaper disc

To make knifes and blades very sharp, a flat grinding surface is needed. This project descibes a DIY sandpaper disc grinder.

Description

I turned some cheap laminat board and the motor from a bread cutting machine into a disc grinder for sharpening knifes and blades. The grinding machine has a adjustable speed and the spinning direction can be reversed for sharpening both sides of a knife. youtube.com/watch?v=wmuNwFJvjFE

Case and disc: Laminat wood

Axle and bearings: Old VCR

Motor and gearbox: Bread slicing machine

Speed regulation: Wall outlet light dimmer

Reverse direction: By changing the polarity between rotary and stationary coil
