The technology is already here - we just need to optimize it! Imagine printing most of your SMDs onto a circuit board, adding your high-transistor-count chips manually, reflowing it, and then finishing it off with the through-hole stuff...

The component tolerances might not be quite as tight, but for many applications, that shouldn't even matter.
