This project contains a simple bluetooth mp3 speaker and an arduino. The Arduino controlls the buttons of the mp3 player via just one button with multiple functions.
The build will be put in a moped powered by the internal battery to listen to music while driving. Or while standing if the sound isn't loud enough.
Last weekend I cut a hole in the side cover of the moped to place the speaker.
The speaker is a water resistant Visaton FR 8WP-4SW for use in boats, cars etc.
The PCB is already fully populated (pictures will follow). Next week I will finish the first version of the project. The only challenge is to put the PCB safely inside the moped so it doesn't get wet. And build a kind of case to put it inside.
A few days ago I recieved my PCB made by my grandfather (yes, my grandfather makes PCBs ;) ). Because I have no printer at home I had to measure the distances between some holes especially for the USB port or the fuse holder. I was not accurately enough so there's some little things to correct.
I have to bend the pins of the fuse holder a little bit and drill some new holes for the USB port, but thats no problem.
The new parts for the radio arrived yesterday, I'm only waiting for two parts now. On the weekend I will correct the mistakes on the PCB and will cut the hole for the speaker in the part of the moped so it fits.
- I have a working prototype on breadboard which is tested
- the PCB is designed and will be produced within the next days
- the missing parts will be ordered when the PCB arrives
UPDATE:
Here's a picture of the prototype on stripboard. I looks ugly, but it works! The only problem is the USB port. With soldering only the 4 pins it's not solid enough so you HAVE to drill the two holes for the port holder.
