02/25/2018 at 23:48 • 2 commentsSo I guess it's about "done". This is based on the Wiring 0004 design that you can still download from Wiring.org.co, but has the following changes:
- Replace FTDI circuitry with Baite CH340E USB/Serial module.
- Use TO220 version of regulator for better power dissipation
- add the diode clamp to RESET
- add space for GND pins/connectors between the IO connectors.
- replace 1206 SMT components with 0805. Include some multiple footprints for various "large" components.
- More bypass caps, moved closer to the chip.
- name most signals with meaningul names.
- get more verbose on the silkscreen (and add a bottom layer silkscreen.)
- complete manual re-route with relaxed design rules. More careful 16MHz crystal layout, attempt to shield "sensitive" signals, even teardrops!

Testing the waters.
02/23/2018 at 10:36 • 0 commentsSort-of seeing if anyone is interested. The idea would be to have a published blank PCB that could be ordered from the current set of low-cost PCB vendors, and self-assembled. I like the idea of a m128a board, but I'm not sure "Wiring" is the best form factor.
