Description

Utilizes the Mbient Labs Metawear hardware product and its API to allow the user to press a chunky button on/off the device into active mode for the ride. Setup prior to the ride includes, charging device, downloading mobile application to phone, pairing to device, entering in SOS contacts to application.

If during the active mode, the device sensing the user is no longer moving and is an "crash" orientation, the mobile phone application then sends SOS text message to previously setup contacts.

This solution is wholly dependent upon being within cell coverage range to work in the event of an SOS as well as the mobile phone having sufficient battery power.

Components

  • 1 × metawear platform BLE sensing platform https://mbientlab.com/metawear/
  • 1 × Enclosure for Metawear (optional) Should be water resistant and have a large button available to be pressed through moto gear and gloves.
  • 1 × Android Mobile device Kit Kat and above that support BLE

    Fairly confident we will need to design mechanical enclosure and design mobile application.
