This project is first a graphics design project with a hardware element.
I have been tempted to make a 3D pirates v ninjas chess set for a long time and one day I might get round to doing this. As a stepping stone to this I decided to create the 2D ninja charters as part of an Instructables build night and attach them to laser cut plastic stands.
The charters were designed from scratch in Inkscape with a significant amount of reuse across them. This was partly to keep a consistent look and feel, and partly to reduce the time required so I would actually get it finished. The design has around 28 layers.
A significant amount of humour has been injected to the designs at times and I now have something I hope will bring a little smile to people's faces when playing.
Components
2×
Self-adhesive label sheets
Standard A4 sheets that will go thought a printer.
1×
A printer
Laser or inkjet. Ideally colour but mono will do.
1×
An automated paper cutter (optional but seriously time saving)
The cutter being self aligning is a plus.
The board was created by cutting an 8x8 grid on vinyl cutter and transferring every other square to the top of a marble slate. The same tequnique can be used with other substances from wood to glass.
What laser cut plastic? for example NEJE 2 7W is ok or i must have stronger?
