SMD Pizza

A coin cell sized coin cell powered ring oscillator with LEDs

Similar projects worth following

This is a just-for-fun-project. I wanted to make a small circuit which uses only a few discrete components to make a chasing light like effect.

The PCB is a circle with a radius of 13.5mm. The circuit consists of 7 inverter stages which are connected in a circle. Hence the name "Ring Oscillator".

Each invertar consists of a N-Channel MOSFET, two resistors, one LED and one capacitor.

Since the PCBs are meant to be wearables, I wanted to come up with a nicer shapes. So I designed a Heart shaped one.

The idea is basically the same as for the pizza. It's a ring oscillator consisting of an uneven number (in this case 13) of inverters. This one is also powered by a CR2032.

Two main differences are that for the sake of space on the PCB I use resistor array packages as current limiting resistors for the LEDS and dual packaged MOSFETs. Also there are two holes in to top to add small wire loops.

I made something similar. I am using a BC847 and a slightly modified circuit. You can look at the image and a video here https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzr0lXBn9m9/
