The gear360 could sort of give you the feeling of being there, but couldn't get any details.

Thus began the quest for useful resolution. There are nodal heads which allow a human to point a DSLR in all directions manually, matching the nodal point of each. A better solution is a handheld mount which quickly pans the camera automatically. It might be possible with Feiyu firmware.
