SnapEDA (www.snapeda.com) is a free, online parts library for circuit board design. I started this because of my frustrations designing PCBs and getting derailed making symbols & footprints from scratch, and testing dubious SPICE models.

The library currently includes PCB footprints, schematic symbols, and 3D models that export to EAGLE, KiCad, Altium, Cadence OrCAD & Allegro, Mentor PADS, & Pulsonix. We plan to expand to other formats and types of content moving forward.

Our library is free and will always be free to support designers.

By the way, we have an API if anyone has ideas on how they can use our data in their projects! Please contact me for more info at natasha@snapeda.com.

Hi! It's a mix of data created by us, provided by manufacturers and other industry partners, and user-generated content. We run a script on each CAD file to expose common manufacturing issues -- like silkscreen-to-copper overlaps, centroid placement, etc. You can see this by clicking on a part page (ex: http://www.snapeda.com/parts/SN74HC138N/Texas Instruments/view-part/) and then clicking on "Validations". Our goal is to provide as much transparency as possible this way; the community can also rate parts. All footprints created by us follow IPC standards, and we follow internal symbol standards that we're going to publish soon to help guide the community.

Thanks! Yes, we hear the DFM concern often and recognize it's something that will take more work to solve. If you have more ideas on what we can add to our Footprint Checker let me know. As for TI, you can get IPC footprints provided by them here (http://www.snapeda.com/libraries/texasinstruments/texas-instruments-packages/)
