Starting to work on gimbal for orientation subsystem testing. Going to repurpose stepper motors and control board from faulty 3D printer (makibox).
This board has at90usb1286 controller, which is more than enough for this purpose. All we need from it - is the ability to receive data on some serial interface, parse number of ticks and make these ticks in the told time.
The other interesting question, at
least for me, is the overall architecture of stand. It is clear that
this stand is not going to be used too much. Like we are going to test
some new version of the orientation software and then go do field tests.
At this time the stand is not going to have much attention, meanwhile
the Ubuntu team will release the new ubuntu version with updated
libraries and any native client software for my laptop is going to get
outdated, so to address this issue, I think that test stand client
software should live inside test stand. It should be something like web
interface or something like this. So Im going to try doing this - the
test stand with web interface.
