To solve an issue with a TV wall where each TV should be separately controllable I made a IR selector by combining an IR transmitter with an 8 port switch together.
the problem when first tested with the new IR outputs attached with tape on each TV was that after a moment I couldn’t tell anymore which TV was selected and which not.
another issue was that a fancy wall with expensive TV's wouldn’t look great if there was something ugly placed on each front.
To fix both issues a transparent cover with a rubber insert was created. the IR-LED is placed in the Rubber insert and covers the IR receiver on each TV. the added tiny blue led next to it in the transparent cover lights up for each TV that can be remotely controlled. The original red LED in each TV that shows if its powered on is also covered by the same rubber insert just since too much light would make the wall shabby. The central unit located behind the centre TV perfectly receives all IR signals so it’s completely hidden.
Yes, multiple IR ports. Most come with 8. if you need more, you can add expansion cards / slave units (with all of the above manufacturers)
P.S. Forgot RTI, URC too. There are too many companies to keep track off.
