Here is our newsletter #3:
- Olivier's design bottom PCB has been successfully tested & verified! This will therefore be our final version. If you haven't seen it already, you can check out the Hackaday article that also details how all the pieces fit together.
- We'll receive Olivier's design updated top PCB in the coming days, which uses reverse mounted LEDs and the PCB FR4 to produce a nice blue glow (as seen in the HaD article). This particular revision consists in a few tracks change and (of course) a soldermask color change
- By the end of the week we'll receive a serigraphed front panel which should give a slick professional look to the Mooltipass (see attached picture). We had to send dozens of emails to find someone that could do it!
- An updated mechanical design will be produced next week, as there were still a few details to iron out to have a better final assembly
- I've started hand soldering several prototypes that will be shipped out to our active contributors
- Speaking of contributors, some of them might leave the project due to the recent Hackaday space contest (which is completely understandable). So if you have some time to spare and want to contribute to the Mooltipass please send me an email.
- Hopefully we'll switch our complete USB related code in the coming days. This will allow us to be driverless for all (most?) OS out there
- 20 cards for each of the first two smart card arts will be manufactured by the end of the week
As you may have gathered, hopefully in a few days all the mechanics and hardware will be considered as final. We'll then start contacting beta testers to organize a small production run.
Again, if you're a firmware developer and have some spare time... please send me an email :)
Cheers,
Mathieu
