Smart homes are great, however if you have to unlock your phone, open an app, wait for it to connect then press a button just to turn the light on it becomes very frustrating. The DO button can be placed anywhere due to it's lightweight, battery powered design.
The key to the DO button is to keep it very simple and usable. The button itself can be programmed to DO anything, from just switching a light on and off to a series of commands to shut the house down and set the alarm with one press.
This project is on hold for now as I would really like to make my all singing, all dancing smart switches that measure light and temperature, control music, heating and lighting. Even with this in mind I am still looking for simple components to make this and trying my hardest not to start adding lots of sensors to this.
There are a few components I am looking at including small Wi-Fi circuits as well as Arduino based solutions. Once I decide which way I am going with this so that I can get the best battery life I will post another update.
