Description

The Ai Thinker "Black board T5" is an ESP8266 "dev" board that doesn't. It doesn't dev, it doesn't do anything ...except beep. Annoyingly. Constantly.

Here's how to rework the PCB to get the ESP8266 working with most of the peripherals which were on the original board (excepting that bloody annoying beeper). You'll need a decent soldering iron, some wire and a couple of resistors ...oh, and a sharp knife, too.

I bought one of these boards a few months ago because it looked interesting (despite the lack of information), just because of what was on the board for the price ($10). In the photo I could see a DHT11, a beeper, a relay, a battery-box, a couple of button switches, a slide switch, a screw-down terminal, a WROOM-02/ESP13, assorted support components and a mystery, unidentified QFP chip (which I was hoping might be an FTDI chip, an I2C multiplexer or something equally useful).

The long(-ish) road to "blinky"...
