TechCrunch is well known for their hackathons; huge gatherings of software devs building pretty amazing things in under 24 hours.

RSVP on Eventbrite, spots are limited.

We're bringing a bunch of hardware to hack on. You may bring your own but assembly and coding all needs to be done on-site.

The hacking actually starts at 1:30pm on Saturday. Enjoy dinner at 7, food and snacks at midnight, and breakfast at 7am the next morning all included as part of the free ticket.

You NEED to Win this Thing

It's often said that Hardware is Hard, but it's also really cool. We think that could give you an edge over the software-only hacks. What a great story it would be for the Hackaday crowd to come in and take the top prize!

TWENTY HOURS OF HARDWARE

Show up at 12:30pm on Saturday, May 2nd. By 9:30am the next morning you must have a working piece of hardware having been totally built on-site. Starting at 11am on Sunday you have 60-seconds to show off your build.

We're not kidding around when we say the judging criteria for this hackathon is “Awesomeness". TC is putting up $5,000 to the winning team. Obviously someone who hangs out around Hackaday should be the winner here so go sign up!

I'll be there. I have an extension that connection unity and Arduino. Custom Video with a Custom controller filled with crazy sensors! (Detect the player's heartbeat in the horror game, make the monsters come closer the more scared you are :P)

@Daniel Sims amazing! I'm building a custom gaming controller too. I used Uniduino to connect Arduino and Unity but moved on because it was slow. Is that the extension you're using? Is it slow for you?

My game was slower paced. I can see it not being fast enough for an FPS.

I was going to put together a ZMR250 FPV racing drone this weekend, but I may save it for the hackathon. I've also tonnes of sensors and toys I've been meaning to play with for quite some time now. So many ideas of what to do

Hi @David Nghiem! Bring everything you want to use, and we'll have sensors and development boards as well.  That would be great if you brought 5V and 3.3V supplies, we'll have regulators and caps too. We will have soldering irons. Will you be in town on Thursday too? We're going to meet up in the evening.

Unfortunately, no, since I'm coming up from D.C. to visit  my family in Jersey to watch the Avengers on Friday night, and then I'm taking the early morning bus from town direct to NYC Saturday morning. I'd be happy to hang out Sunday afternoon/evening when everything is done though. Especially to celebrate victory. :P ;)

Since it's 24 hours, youse guys supplying caffeine too?

Well, if y'all got time after the event to hang out (It's NYC afterall!), there's some really good food joints around town. My younger bro is a food photographer, and he's got the low down on what's good around town. I can ask him for recommendations if y'all are up for it.

So, I'm gonna bring a crap load of op amp and 555 timers, my resistor and cap kit, and some diodes. I have some NRF24101+ modules coming in, but I don't know if they'll come in on time for the event. Got some wifi, IMU, and bluetooth modules too. Unless you folks are going to provide that stuff? Should I bring sensors? I also have custom circuits I use because I use them so much, like a bipolar power supply, 5V/3.3 volt power supplies, etc. Breadboards? I'm definitely bringing telephone cable and wire strippers to make jumpers with.

I don't anticipate soldering at this event, though I could bring that too...
