2N4401 Description
The 2n4401 is a bipolar junction transistor with an NPN junction that is used for general purpose amplification and switching. Conduction is carried out by both charge carriers, i.e. electrons and holes, in a bipolar junction transistor. However, electrons will be the majority charge carriers.
2N4401 Features
The collector current (IC) is 500mA on a continuous basis.
The voltage between the collector and the emitter (VCE) is 40 volts.
The collector-base voltage (VCB) is set to 60 volts.
6V is the Emitter Base Breakdown Voltage (VBE).
100MHz is the transition frequency.
To-92 package is available.

2N4401 vs 2N3904
In every way, the 2N3904 and 2N4401 look to be quite similar parts. The 2N4401 has a greater current rating, but otherwise, they appear to be similar in pricing and other aspects.
2N4401 vs 2N2222
The 2N4401 transistor is extremely similar to the widely used 2N2222 NPN transistor. The 2N4401 and the 2N2222, on the other hand, have two major variances. When compared to 2N2222, the 2N4401 has a collector current limit of 500mA and power dissipation of 652mW, making it appropriate for medium loads, but it can also drive loads bigger than BC547.
