40 pin ribbon inside carbon fiber tube

I want to run a 40 wire video ribbon cable through a thin carbon fiber tube. By thin, I mean ideally 10mm, but as thin as possible. The ribbon doesn't want to roll much longitudinally. Can I convert that ribbon cable to something with a very small connector that would pass through the tube? The ribbon cable goes from a 7" display to the controller board. Thanks!
