Hacking myself

davedarkodavedarko wrote 02/28/2016 at 19:45 • 1 min read • Like

I have a bad motivator and some broken energy cells to fix. I see a lot of repeated hacks, that I have never done myself and yet I feel tired looking at all of them and everything related with soldering. Maybe this is because of my work that takes a lot of time and energy at the moment, or that my soldering station for 10bugs is worth nothing and it's just no fun to solder! I'm also short breathed more than I'm willing to admit.. meh.

I know that feeling. Try to focus on what you do and can possibly do in the future, in stead of what you wish you would have done by now.

I saw your post about your new Youtube channel. I also had that moment when I decided to record more hobby stuff, and I think the best advise I can give you is to just start doing stuff, and record it. It's fun as long as you have fun, we are not expecting nor demanding content on a specific topic or on a regular basis. And if you don't want to solder just do something else :)

Thanks for the skulls.

p.s.

If you have the money for it, outsource the video editing, that's the real annoying part :D

These things have their phases... It's times like these I usually do some cleaning/re-organizing, and doing-so seems to help inspire new and/or remind of old project-ideas that percolate 'till the next phase. Thanks for reminding me of this, DaveyD!

And good idea about vid-stuff, a new phase to add to the mix for those moments.

Is it the same soldering iron you picked up when you were 6 :) ? Often I find my motivation in a cup of coffee, or two, or three, ... :). Sometimes it feels like my weekends turn into a routine because of the project and stuff I have to do around my house. What helps here is a great California whether. Come to California :), any time.

Time for some vacation! Preferably somewhere with lots of sun.

That sucks! I always try to book some vacation time in the winter, when I know I will have the worst depression -- and go to somewhere at least a little warm an sunny. Helps a lot.

It's still a great job though. Pretty relaxed timelines, home office is okay. I have the 3d printer at home. Can work from anywhere..winter depression gets me too, but this year I had a flatmate, one of the good ones, that was helpful :)
