CHEAPEST MicroController for TINY Robot
ZaidPirwani wrote 12/22/2016 at 08:15 • 2 pointsHi,
So, I am looking to buy a few 100 microcontrollers, for really tiny robots - like these: https://hackaday.io/project/2054-tinybot-robot-family-development-board and https://hackaday.io/project/11588-robotics-for-control etc.
BUT, my goal is to have BRAITENBERG type robots for kids - cheap as free, like total cost less than 5USD - with motors, PCBs and stuff.
First my plan was to go with Op-Amp and Switches - btu I dont think I can get good variety of behaviors without having so many switches (more than 10).
So, cheapest microcontroller please - PIC or AVR is what I know about.
SMD and would be good if there are like 2 ADC pins and about 10 other pins for other IO
Robots will move around, Buzz, blink light and do stuff based on sensor values (Light/IR Sensors)

STM32L432 $3 a piece for the chips but high performance, low power, and Arduino programmable. See: https://hackaday.io/project/19100-arduino-programmable-cortex-m4f-development-boards

Hi, I'm Leslie. I had my friend help me hack into my spouse's hotmail , facebook,Skype ,WhatsApp,call logs, and phone text messages when I suspected he was cheating. All he asked for was a phone number. You can contact him at (charlescyberwiz@gmail.com).870-513-0365. If u need help, tell him Leslie reffered u to him and he'll help. Good luck.

22USD per 100pcs of STM8. You can program it with st-link from china

The STM8S003F3P6 costs $0.20 to $0.25 at 5 to 100pcs. I have a hobby project with these µCs going on, and maybe (just maybe) you'd be interested in using it as a "programming environment" for tiny robots.

It wouldn't be difficult to create a language for defining the robot behavior rules (e.g. "front sense obstacle? 180 degree turn").
One more thought: I can imagine using VS1838B IR remote receivers for the programming link. $0.07@100pcs. Another option is IrDA, which STM8S003/STM8S103 supports in hardware (IrDA would also work through magnetic induction), and the eForth I hacked plays nice with half-duplex communication.

BTW, my definition of cheap is like it has to be less than 0.5USD, when buying in about 50pcs MOQ - AliExpress
