DVI/HDMI interface board with frame buffer?

I just played a little with VGA:
Though it works, the timing, DMA etc. etc. is a pain in the butt and sometimes I have glitches and stuff-> conclusion: When running the VGA generation, there are not too many other things you can do on the chip. Therefore:
Is there a board/chip which provides an DVI/HDMI output and has an integrated frame buffer? Because then it would be very easy to come up with awesome graphic projects!
The alternative would be to use a Raspberry(etc) but this waaaaay to far away from hardware for me ;)
